Miz Returns to Shattered bridge Empty Miz Returns to Shattered bridge

Miz hearing news that the Raf is directing the reconstruction of the bridge across to the ruins whitehall is concerning news. Surely rebuilding the Cathedral is a dream of many of the faithful but wisdom often dictates that the future can not be embraced until the past is buried. That the ruins of the city were crawling with multitudes of ghouls when Miz last saw the ruins is concerning. Still if  the obelisks have been destroyed then the shroud of evil over the ruins may be lifted. Her journey back to shattered bridge follows along the Kelix river, the uneducated say its blessed by the tears of Omikami though the Elves know better. Heironeous's sword splits the Kelix's head waters at the monastery and sanctifies the river which keeps the undead at bay.

A dozen or so leagues from the city the blight is still apparent across the river. Gray dust blankets a barren and bleak landscape. The few barren trees that grow are thorny tortured husks low and twisted with no hint of vitality. The obsidian obelisks can be seen from the safety of the north of the river but Miz can feel them pulsing their dark energy. Whatever has led the city to pursue this course, be it  madness , domination or some deception Miz can not fathom. As she travels, the Eastgate of the city appears before her and at its doors a small contingent of guards are checking wagons and collecting the tax. Their heraldry bears the near forgotten mark of house Acererak. Looking at her armament the guards waive her past though one quickly abandons their post and races off towards the citadel.  Should she follow? There was a small shrine to Heironeous in the near-water neighborhood perhaps whatever faithful that remain in the city are near there?

What do you do?

Watching the figure grow slightly smaller in the distance, Mizz closes her eyes and summons her observations of her companions earlier that evening. Having studied them for several hours, all the while making sure that her trembling hands, were not noticed by anyone. All the talk of White hall and that it has almost fallen into enemy hands, yet again after the possibility of rebuilding it channeled Mizz's own anger. She wanted nothing more than to sprint over there and destroy any of the goblinkin that dared to set foot anywhere near this holy site. She had wanted immediately to chase after them as she heard the howls as they finished off that goblin, as SHE killed it, BUT, she knew it was best to fall back to the city.

If she started off now, she could easily track and follow him to where ever he went but what if he was just heading back to his camp, or home for that matter. Running off right as he noticed her though, that was unusual, suspicious even. The timing of it was odd, as it was not close to lunch or quitting time and if he was sneaking off to avoid work he would have done so quietly and definitely not at a full sprint. It was then decided, as the path bent ahead of her, she quickly doubled back, running flat out, using every bit of athleticism she possessed, calling to Heironeous as she neared a few particular difficult larger fallen logs, that were almost half her height.

He wasn't difficult to find, not even trying to cover his tracks. Were those several figures she saw him approaching? She'd have to get closer but knew that she easily stood out. Move too fast and they'd hear her approach, curse it all for her cleanliness, shining armor indeed. Keeping an eye on her quarry, she also looked around her for small fallen leaves and twigs, some recently fallen others fresh and still green. As the figure continued to move, she still could not tell if he was with others or it was her imagination or a trick of the light. Staying back so far to muffle any noise her armor and weapons would make, made the figures so small that if not for his heraldry, she would not notice him at all.

Miz's maul, was her best work at blending into her environment. Her chainmail had plenty of openings to place twigs and leaves but as she moved more fell away than stayed. Her shield on her back was fine and stuffing a few fuller branches in her belt allowed her midsection to become one with her background. the maul was basically a few branches bunched together and held together with some twine. She dared move much closer now, increasing her pace trusting her disguise, she got within thirty-five paces, near enough for her to close the distance. Now as she followed, she only had to wait and see where he ended up...

Miz Returns to Shattered bridge Empty Re: Miz Returns to Shattered bridge

Following the guard through the city streets of the east gate towards the centrally located citadel she watches as he passes through the check point at the inner wall. Miz climbs the back stairs of an public house and is able to peer over the wall to see the guard enter into an ornate tower (recently built?) After several minutes a lord in flowing robes exits the tower with the guard and two figures in black plate armor and they proceed out the inner gate through the east gate section of the city towards the wall. They pass within 10 yards of MIZ who is staying just out of sight. Luckily MIZ has both detect good and evil and detect magic prepared (as would any high wisdom caster) and sees that the heavily armored figures are undead. Curiously Lord Raf is unnatural (aberration) also radiating a strong aura of Transmutation as well as a few minor enchantments. Miz weighs the circumstances and wisely decides that using dispel magic to strip the transmutation might not be prudent at this juncture. Still while she is in the city she might be able to accomplish a small task or two though it bears remembering to leave by the north or west gates rather back where they might be watching for her appearance. It might be worthwhile to let the others know of her findings sooner than later, especially if they are counting on aid from Shattered bridge against the Warborn.
